It’s no secret that I love my city, Richmond. Home to a rich arts scene, great food, a can’t quite put your finger on it type of energy, and some of the best wedding venues in Virginia. It has everything you need for an unforgettable celebration. I’ve done my fair share of photographing lovely couples throughout the area and am sharing my top choices for Richmond's most iconic wedding venues.
The Estate at River Run
Maidens, VA
The Estate at River Run is one of my favorite wedding venues in Richmond, thanks to its stunning view of the James River and an epic terrace that’s practically made for a photo opp. I love that they actually have two spaces for the couple to get ready in, instead of one lovely suite and a dingy basement. The entire estate is gorgeous with a luxury-meets-relaxed feel, and there’s even a pool! You can have your entire wedding weekend on-site and then go for a swim at the end of the night!

Dover Hall
Manakin-Sabot, VA
One of Richmond's most popular historic venues, Dover Hall brings the English countryside vibes throughout its castle-like property. It gives Bridgerton, with its ballroom featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and red velvet curtains. Dover Hall’s outdoor ceremony space, The Reflecting Pool, runs down the middle of the guest seating, adding to the elegance. The entire property has plenty of indoor and outdoor space to accommodate large ceremonies and receptions.
The Branch Museum
Richmond, VA
Nestled on Monument Avenue (Richmond’s most well-known street), The historic Branch Museum has everything you need for a large or intimate wedding celebration that’s as beautiful as it is iconic. Couples tie the knot on the staircase with a gorgeous building backdrop. The exteriors are stunning, with enough room in the back lawn for an outdoor reception and a terrace that makes the perfect cocktail hour scene.

Mankin Mansion
Richmond, VA
Mankin Mansion is a real-life classic fairytale wedding venue in the heart of Richmond. The Italian Gardens is something out of a storybook, and the grounds feature a 100-year-old Sycamore tree. The outdoor terrace is great for the cocktail hour, and there’s even a fun garden maze and giant chess set to keep your guests entertained. I also really love their roomy climate-controlled pavilion tent, which is where most receptions take place.
Morais Vineyards
Bealton, VA
Wine lovers, this one's for you! While about an hour from Richmond, Morais Vineyards is totally worth the drive! From the atrium and spacious ballroom to a pergola with a long walkway that serves as your own personal catwalk, there’s no shortage of places to take breathtaking photos. I photographed a wedding there in late August, and the wind made the Crape Myrtle petals fly around like it was snowing– magical!
